Emotional Intelligence is your ability to recognise and understand emotions in yourself and in others and to use this awareness to manage your behaviour and relationships. Researchers at the World Economic Forum predict that by 2030, Emotional Intelligence will be the most required skill for everyone in every job and especially for leadership roles. EI is so important it accounts for 58% of performance in all types of occupations.
Children develop differently- at different ways and in diverse ways. They will have different stimuli, boredom thresholds and trigger points but they must learn self-awareness to maintain self-management.
The ‘Emotional Intelligence Workshop’ will be reflective and endeavours to provide your child with practical tools to be self-aware, regulate their emotions and improve their relationships with family and friends. It is important that children are provided the foundation for successful personal and professional relationships in the future.
There are two key components to the course: self-awareness and social intelligence:
Self-awareness:
- Self-regulating your emotional state
- Recognising when you are sad, angry, worried, frustrated, tired, happy or excited and how to manage each emotion.
- Growth mindset to achieve success.
- How others see you
- Frame of reference- how we all see the world through a different lens.
Social Intelligence:
- Kindness and empathy
- Making small talk
- Peer pressure
- Asking for what you want
- Saying no/being assertive
- Friendships
- Dealing with embarrassing situations
- Differences between people
The course is delivered over four/five sessions (approximately 6 hours in total). I look forward to working with your child and elevating their emotional acumen. The joining instructions will be sent 1-2 weeks prior to the course commencing. This will include handouts with (optional) pre-work for your child to complete. Summary notes will be provided at the end of the workshop so you may recap the learnings with your child.
